FEED MKE: Strategies for Food Excess and Equitable Distribution in Milwaukee is a graduate capstone project that addresses the dual challenges of food waste and inequitable access to healthy food across the city. Guided by the City of Milwaukee's Climate and Equity Plan and informed by stakeholder engagement, case studies, and existing conditions analysis, the project identifies gaps in coordination among food system organizations and advances a set of implementable strategies. Organized around education, operations, and policy, the recommendations focus on strengthening partnerships, reducing organic waste, and improving access to fresh food for underserved communities. By promoting collaboration across nonprofit, public, and private sectors, the project provides a practical and scalable framework to build a more efficient, equitable, and sustainable food system in Milwaukee.
