Abstract

2-Nitropropane is a liquid used as a solvent for vinyl resins, lacquers, synthetic rubbers, fats, oils, dyes, and other organic materials; as an intermediate in chemical syntheses, and as a propellant. It is highly soluble in water, and may enter the aquatic environment via effluents from chemical industries where it is manufactured or used, and spills.
