Abstract

Methychloroform (1,1,1-trichloroethane) is a liquid which is moderately soluble in water. It is used primarily as a solvent, and as a cleaning and degreasing agent. It may enter the aquatic environment via discharges from industrial plants where it is manufactured or used, municipal waste treatment plant effluents, or spills.
