Oral History Interview, Larry Johnson (2513)
Abstract
During UW–Madison’s Grandparents University, 13-year-old Renewable Energy Studies major Elliot Johnson interviews his grandfather, Larry Johnson, about energy and climate change. Larry, who grew up in West Salem, Wisconsin, and now lives in Toledo, Ohio, discusses the evolution of energy sources, the impact of climate change, and the adoption of renewable energy. He recalls being an early adopter of solar hot water heater technology emphasizes the importance of sustainable energy for future generations. Larry believes younger generations will innovate and find solutions to energy challenges, advocating for self-correcting decisions based on new knowledge. Elliot expresses hope for creating better energy practices for a sustainable future. This interview was collected in collaboration with the Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) and is housed within the UW-Madison Archives Oral History Program as part of the WEI Grandparents University Oral History Project.
