As middle school, online, Tier-1 Learning Intervention Facilitation Team (LIFT) teachers are pioneering a new role, and will work to serve three distinct purposes. First, this study, will be used to inform and improve the multi-tiered response to intervention (RtI) process at the Virtual Middle School. Improving processes, procedures, communications and identifying best practices will ultimately improve student learning outcomes. Secondly, students who may be at risk will be more quickly identified and receive additional academic interventions based on the evidence gathered. Lastly, as the RtI process has mostly been targeted at the elementary level, this study will focus on teacher’s implementation of Tier 1 interventions at the middle school level, thus contributing to the body of knowledge of the middle school multi-tiered process.en_US
