The purpose of this study is to collect and analyze data from the students who were enrolled in
the first Study Skills for Welders class that was funded as a bridge class by the federal Trade
Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program (TAACCCT).
This class was created as a requirement of the TAACCCT grant. This study was created to help
determent the effectiveness and perceived benefits to students enrolled in the Study Skills class.
This study utilized information gathered from students from four participating Wisconsin
Indianhead Technical College (WITC) full-time welding programs located on the WITC
campuses of New Richmond, Rice Lake, Superior, and Ashland, Wisconsin during the 2014 fall
semester. The results of the study recommend that the Study Skills for Welders class be
continued beyond the TAACCCT grant funded requirements and that the study was perceived as
beneficial to student success by participates.
