    Abstract
This paper examines the issue of depression during adolescence. When students are depressed their academics, relationships, and behavior may be impacted due to the symptoms they are dealing with. A comprehensive discussion on depression is presented, including characteristics, implications, risk factors, ways to assess depression in the school-based setting, and evidence- based interventions. Best practices for school psychologists and other school professionals are discussed in the areas of intervention, assessment, and collaboration with school staff, parents, and other professionals.
