    Abstract
Rooted in Standard English but enriched with Chinese cultural and linguistic traits, China English (CE) demonstrates unique characteristics in lexicon, phonology, and syntax. This paper explores CE by analyzing new words and expressions from China Daily 2024, situating CE within the framework of World Englishes as a legitimate variety in the Expanding Circle. The 2024 CE lexicon reflects China’s multifaceted development across domains: political concepts (e.g., Chinese Path to Modernization), cultural blending (e.g., Guochao Products), economic innovation (e.g., New Trios), educational reforms (e.g., Dual-track Vocational Education System), technological advancements (e.g., Origin Wukong), and social dynamics (e.g., Shared Mobility). The sample words and expressions from China Daily 2024 indicate that CE serves as a bridge for cross-cultural communication, filling lexical gaps, disseminating Chinese values, and enhancing cultural identity. CE can be incorporated into English language teaching in China to cultivate students’ ability to articulate China’s narratives and foster cross-cultural competence. With China’s rising status in the world, CE will evolve as a dynamic component of World Englishes, bringing vitality to the English language.
