    Abstract
    In this two-session oral history interview conducted in 2003, political scientist Crawford Young interviewed his colleague Herbert Kritzer about his life and work in UW-Madison as well as his role as chair of the department of Political Science. The discussion covered topics including Kritzer’s childhood and college years, the academic job market, teaching and research in Political Science, spousal hire, and the process and politics of finding a departmental chair. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Archives’ Oral History Collection.
