| dc.description.abstract | In her 1979, 2009, 2010, and 2022 sets of interviews, Professor Emerita Susan Friedman touches on a wide range of topics throughout her career. She speaks about the writing process, teaching English and Women’s/Gender Studies, and speaks about the cross section between the two fields. She gives insight into her unconventional dissertation topic, along with a range of subsections in literary studies. She highlights her time as chair of the English department and as director for the Institute for Research in Humanities. She speaks about her role in the founding of the Women’s Studies program in 1975, and about other university happenings like tenure, hiring, and UW’s leadership throughout the years. These interviews were conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Archives Oral History Collection for the Women @ UW Project. | en_US |
