    Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of practicing mindfulness techniques and weekly positive framed short message services (SMS) on vaping behaviors of UW-Eau Claire students. 50 participants who vape as a stress intervention are asked to describe their habits with a pre-test questionnaire. Next, participants are assigned to an experimental or control group. For privacy, only the primary investigator will have an identification key. During a 4-week period, the experimental group will be provided vaping pamphlets, mindfulness techniques (4-square breathing, coloring books, meditation, journaling, etc.), and weekly positive SMS, while the control group will continue with their normal behaviors. Two weeks after the initial pre-test, participants will receive questionnaires about their vaping habits and stress levels. From the data collection, we will determine how mindfulness techniques affect participants. Researchers will utilize direct advertising (referrals, campus resources, recruitment table, and email) to recruit subjects for this study. Each participant will receive a gift card upon completion of the study. Various studies completed in this realm of mindfulness, stress, and vaping have discovered a correlation between stress and vaping. This study predicts that these mindfulness techniques will have some success in reducing vaping habits of college students at UW-Eau Claire.
