Oral History Interview, Victor Jew (2440)
Abstract
In his November 2019 interview with Cynthia Liu, Victor Jew talks about teaching at UW and the formation of the Steering Committee of Minority Affairs on campus. Jew talks about Phi Gamma Delta’s racial caricatures at their Founder’s Day party and how the reactions to this led to the formation of the Steering Committee and the Holley Report. Finally, Jew discusses his experiences with teaching Asian American Studies at UW and his opinions on the Ethnic Studies requirement, as well as his hopes for the future of the university. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the Asian American Studies Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.
