Applying effective strategies to boost employee engagement in the workplace is a challenging topic for any company. The purpose of this qualitative research is to investigate strategies executive leadership could potentially use at Company XYZ to improve employee performance. The sample selection will consist of twelve executive leaders at Company XYZ, who have been employed for at least two years and have displayed effective employee engagement strategies. The Self-determination Theory (SDT) will serve as the research study’s conceptual framework for exploring the processes and practices of experienced executive leaders, to reveal data that contributes to a better understanding of employee engagement. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to obtain meaningful information from the executive leader’s successful employee engagement strategies used through open-ended interview questions. Interpretations from Company XYZ’s archived documents were assessed by conducting participant validation and reviewing the archival data collected. The six-stage thematic data and analysis process was used as a research tool to achieve detailed complex interpretation data findings. Based on the data collected, the Grounded Theory Methods (GTM) were used for data coding and exploration of themes. Based on the methodology data collected, the three themes emerged from thematically analyzing the data: (a) culture of belonging, (b) employee empowerment, and (c) fostering accountability.
