Upon hearing our topic of acrophobia/philia, our minds immediately went to the fear side of things. When someone is afraid of heights, they start to get nervous and think of every possible scenario in which something goes wrong. We originally wanted our outfit to be an amalgamation of different hazardous situations. At its core, our design was a skydiving attempt gone wrong. With broken bones protruding from her skin and a ripped and mangled parachute wrapped around her, the model would limp down the stage and look fearfully over the edge. Throughout our thought process, however, we realized that many of our ideas actually translated better into the love of heights. The airplane on top of the hat could be a reference to either skydiving or traveling around the world. Soaring skyscrapers spring up out of the clouds on the shoes. Funambulists wander far above the ground and balance themselves with a pole. Ultimately, being surrounded by the clouds, which is incorporated into our entire outfit, is a marvelous experience for an acrophiliac!
