dc.description.abstractJohn Gillam talked to Robert Cole on October 27, 1987, about working for Verne Powell in the early days of his business. Gillam discussed his employment history at the shop and his personal relationship with Powell as a pseudo father figure. Gillam also talks about being present when Powell retrieved Kincaid’s famous platinum flute from the World’s Fair and provided numerous anecdotes about his time working with Powell. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the Powell Flutes Oral History Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.en_US
