    Abstract
Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) cause life-long changes to physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and economic domains. These impairments have profound effects on return to work, development and maintenance of social relationships, and independence. Most Project-based intervention (PBI) discussed in previous research has been conducted in a group context. Described here are six essential elements of PBI. There is a tangible project or concrete end-product focus within a group intervention. Communication partner involvement along with individualized communication-based goals. There needs to be acknowledgment of participant abilities and the need for supports and a plan to address impaired awareness.
