Oral History Interview, Sherrie Tucker (1686)
Abstract
In this interview, Sherrie Tucker discusses her academic career in ethnomusicology. Sherrie spoke of the time period of the 1980s through 2017 and on the following topics: ethnomusicology; women in music; academia; LGBTQ+ representation at conferences; working with Angela Davis; and more. She discusses the variety of conferences that she attended, including American Studies Conferences, FT and M (Feminist Theory and Music) Conference, and other music-related conferences that specifically deal with race, class, and gender. In addition, Sherrie talks about the importance of her work as a researcher working at the intersections between music and women. This interview was conducted as part of the Feminist Theory in Music Project and for inclusion into the UW-Madison Archives and Records Management oral history collection.
