Exotic Species Problems/Public Education Solutions was designed to provide those interested in stimulating efforts to protect our public waters from invasions by exotic species with the tools required to heighten awareness of the problem and to plan and implement strategies to protect lakes and streams from invasion by aquatic exotic species. The destructive impact of exotic species has been clearly documented. Our experience has also demonstrated that efforts to control exotic species once they become established are very expensive and often ineffective. Like many problems we have come to realize the best solution is prevention. Your effective use of this program will help to maintain the quality and value of our water resources. The investment in prevention should eliminate the much greater environmental and economic costs associated with an exotic species invasion.en_US
