    Abstract
    In his 2017 interview with his grandson Steven Haas, Ambrose Haas describes his time in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He begins with his knowledge about the war as a youth in the Bronx, and his navy training at multiple bases throughout the U.S. During the war, he experienced air raids throughout the Pacific theater, including the West Indies, Philippines, and Shanghai, China. This interview was conducted for inclusion in the Ford Scholars project and is housed in the Oral History Program at the UW-Madison Archives.
