    Abstract
This research concerns working memory and emotional changes affected through music making, specifically hand drumming lessons, among individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The study uses an action research method within an embedded mixed method research design. The three key areas of discussion are alertness, mood, and memory. This study approaches these ideas through the lens of music education.
