Editor's Note:
The Arts have been around for a long time. They have been the vehicle for numerous individuals to express themselves; to put themselves on the map, if you will. Modern society and economic conditions have put a damper on this means of human expression. The Creative Arts Journal: Prometheus is an attempt at encouraging creativity and talent to be expressed; not simply because we then have something good to read and look at, but because we also are allowing individuals to be just that -individuals, separate, distinct and invaluable. The Arts continue to exist. Thank God.
I'd like to thank our faculty advisor Warren Lang for the time, assistance, and motivation provided. Words of appreciation are also due to the various faculty members who judged the contest: Fiction -Mike Levy and Bill O'Neill, Nonfiction -Dick Gardner, Evelyn Jensen and Susan Thurin, Poetry -Dan Riordan and Bob Schuler, Art -Rob Price and Al Gamache, Photography -Bob Meier and Bob Ward. I would also like to thank Brenda Mergens for the countless hours she donated to the typing and retyping of the material.
I hope in the years to come that Prometheus will be funded adequately to continue to strive for excellence as an indispensable part of Stout and human society.
