    Abstract
Acute toxicity tests with the fathead minnow (Pimephales promela s) as test organism were completed for five chemicals in the structure-activity program this quarter. These chemicals were dibutyl succinate, ethyl hexanoate, furan, 1,5-dichloropentane, and 1,4-dichlorobutane. Early life stage toxicity tests of 31-32 days duration with the fathead minnow were completed for benzophenone and 4-methyl-2-pentanone. Water solubilities were determined for_£ xylene and n-amylbenzene in Lake Superior water at 25 C.
