This project is concerned with expansion of the sparse information currently available pertaining to the chemical effects of red clay erosion on western Lake Superior and certain of its tributary streams. A major part of this study involves an investigation of the degree to which naturally occurring red clay material affects the concentrations of major and minor nutrients in the Lake Superior area. Some information on removal of organic pollutants by suspended clay particles constitutes a further phase of the project.en_US
