dc.description.abstractIn her oral history interviews Janet Hyde, a long-time professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, discusses her career at UW. Hyde talks about her research, her teaching load, her experiences in joint-appointment to the Psychology Department and the Women’s Studies Department, and her time as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Gender Equity. She also discusses the origin and growth of her interest in Women in Psychology, her memories of gender relations on the Madison campus, and her impressions of the Chancellors under whom she had worked. Hyde also recounts her childhood in Ohio and Illinois, her undergraduate studies at Oberlin College, her graduate work at the University of California-Berkeley; and her first two academic positions at Bowling Green State University and Denison University.
