    Abstract
Difficulty self-regulating one’s emotions and behaviors is a common characteristic of individuals on the autism spectrum. The researcher investigated whether the use visuals decreased undesired behaviors in elementary-aged students with autism. The use of visuals is supported as a positive way to increase communication and understanding of individuals with autism. Furthermore, strategies to assist with positive behavior in students with autism have been researched and evidence has been provided on their effectiveness.
