dc.description.abstract | The summer break from academics has been identified by many as a reason for a lack of growth in reading ability. Many theories have been proposed asto why the summer reading losshappens. Similarly, many ideas have been developed to help slow or reverse this process. Reading is of the utmost importance as it is a necessary skill required to be successful in many educational subject areas. This study will follow a class of students as they progress through sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninthgrade to determine if the summer readingloss is a real threat that is impacting reading scoreswithin one middle school in Wisconsin. | en_US |
