Tape recorded interview with Phil Schwarz conducted on August 18, 2005 in the Library Learning Center on the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus. The interviewer is Kevin Thorie. Phi Schwarz received a B.S. Degree from the University of Wisconsin-
Platteville, M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Denver, and a M.S. in Media Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout Schwarz began his career as a public services librarian at the University of Puget Sound. He first came to Stout as an acting Circulation and Serials Librarian in 1967. He later became automation coordinator and was an automation consultant for the Department of Public Instruction and the University of Wisconsin System. Later he became the Bibliographic Services Coordinator and the Head of the Library Computing Services. In 2003 Schwarz was named Director of the Library. Her served in this position for two years before retiring in 2005.
