    Abstract
    In his 1988 interview with Laura Smail, David Henige discusses his opinions of the library system at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He talks about recent efforts to automate library collections using databases, his views about the administration of the library, the decline of research among UW faculty, and his speculations on the future of the library system. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Oral History Program.
