    Abstract
Tape recorded presentation given by E.L. Gabelein and Susan Blair at an annual meeting of the Dunn County Historical Society held at the Marion Hotel in Menomonie, Wisconsin on October 30, 1956. The bulk of the tape consists of Mr. Gabelein's presentation discussing the Knapp-Stout & Co. Company; Menomonie buildings, business, and schools; Senator James Huff Stout and Stout Institute; Menomonies first kindergarten, Andrew Tainter, and railroad work. Mr. Gabelein was a railroad worker in Menomonie who later opened a retail store selling phonographs and school supplies in Menomonie. Susan Blair, a long-time resident of Menomonie and relative of the William Wilson lumbering family, discusses Menomonie businesses and buildings, early education, Captain William Wilson, and the circus coming to Menomonie.
