Tape recorded interview conducted on January 5, 1982 by Norman Ziemann with Dwight Agnew at his home in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Agnew received his Bachelor's degree from Park College, Parkville, Missouri, and his Master's and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He taught in public schools in Colorado and Iowa before coming to Stout in 1947 as instructor of history and head of the Social Science Department. Agnew was made the first Dean of the School of Liberal Studies when the school was formed in 1964 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1977. The interview focuses on the development of the School of Liberal Studies including the reorganization of its existing programs and introduction of new programs such as applied art and math. Also discussed are faculty issues such as hiring and governance, changes in the institution in general, and Stout presidents.
