He focuses on the influence of his Peace Corps experience in Tanzania, his direction of Witte Residence Hall and his work under Paul Ginsberg in the Dean of Students’ office. He offers his recollections and insights on a range of issues from the implementation of student and faculty discriminatory speech codes; developing positive campus climate; student suicide prevention; academic and non-academic student conduct codes; and student involvement in university governance.
