    Abstract
    In his August 2010 interviews with Eric Trekell, Jess Anderson recounts his over five-decade participation in and activism with the gay community in Madison. He discusses his experiences growing up near Gary IN, and how developing interests in computer programming led him to Madison to work with MURA. A long-time member of academic staff, he also provides insights on the relationship between academic staff and faculty to UW. The remainder of the interview discusses numerous aspects of the development of the gay community in Madison. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Oral History Program.
