    Abstract
A tape recorded interview of Ralph Iverson conducted by Ray Barello on September 9, 1976 at the First National Bank in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Iverson originally came to Stout in 1946 as an instructor in psychology and secondary education. He left in 1948 to earn his doctorate and was rehired at Stout in 1951 as instructor in guidance and Director of Student Personnel Services. He served in various administrative capacities until his retirement in 1973 as Assistant Chancellor for Student Services. Iverson was largely responsible for the development of Stout's guidance program academically and as a student service and began the annual Stout Guidance Conferences. The interview includes discussion of Iverson's early life as a son of Norwegian immigrants, his early career in education, military service during World War II, the Stout Barracks, the development of the guidance program into a master's degree program, Stout administrative structure and reorganization, the Stout Guidance Conference, the student advisement program at Stout, recruiting Paul Hoffman and his work at the Counseling Center, impressions of Presidents Fryklund and Micheels, establishment of the hotel management program, and Iverson's experiences as acting president of Stout.
