    Abstract
    Tape recorded interview conducted on April 10, 1981 by Dwight Agnew with Charlotte Sims at her home in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Ms. Sims is a lifetime resident of Menomonie, Wisconsin and also a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church in Menomonie. She and her family were associated with many of the leading families in Menomonie. Her father, Mr. Ernest Gabelein, knew many of the prominent persons in the waning days of the lumber industry. The interview includes discussion of the person and family of Senator James H. Stout, the founding of Stout Institute, personalities of early Menomonie, the Mabel Tainter Memorial building, and the First Congregational Church of Menomonie.
