ITHAKA: Supporting Big Data Research, Data and Analysis from UW-Madison Researchers

Abstract

This study seeks to better understand the practices and needs of University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers working with big data and data science methods with an aim of helping to improve big data research support services locally. It was conducted in partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s General Library System and the Division of Information Technology’s (DoIT) Research Cyberinfrastructure initiative as part of Ithaka S&R’s Supporting Big Data Research project. This multi-institutional project was designed and led by Ithaka S&R and culminated in a local report from each participating institution as well as a meta-analysis of the interviews and findings published by Ithaka S&R.
