Description
The Beta Pi Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma had its origins with the creation of the Philomathean Society in 1912. The Philomatheans were the first sorority to be formed on campus. The purpose of the group was to create the spirit of good fellowship; to acquire the ability to use correct English; and to acquire general information through the united efforts of its members. The Philomatheans became the 50th chapter of Tri Sigma in 1952.
