Having its roots at Ohio State University, Epsilon Pi Tau became a national fraternity in 1929. The purposes of the organization were to "esteem the function of skill in industrial arts and vocational industrial education, to promote social efficiency in the intermingling of human contacts, and to foster, reward, publish, and circulate the results of research." Stout's involvement with Epsilon Pi Tau began with the promotion of the Industrial Education Forum in the 1930-1931 academic year. The main goal of this group was to seek affiliation with Epsilon Pi Tau. This goal was achieved on May 27, 1933, when Stout was installed as the Theta Chapter of this fraternity. From the time of the installation on, Theta Chapter has pursued a path of academic and professional excellence in the fields relating to Industrial Arts at Stout, and its alumni have gone on to become leaders in the field of Industrial Arts. As the Stout Institute grew up to become a University, so too did Theta Chapter grow from a membership of eight to its present membership of over 50.en_US
