dc.descriptionDavid Barnard, a former Stout student (B.S. 1946, M.S. 1947), began his 41 years of service on this campus in 1947 as a teacher of printing and visual aids. He subsequently became an Assistant Professor of Industrial Education in audio-visual education and photography; Professor of Industrial Education and Head of Audio-Visual Center; and was later named Dean of Learning Resources. During Barnard's term as Dean, Learning Resources consisted of the Library Learning Center, Instructional Technology Services, Academic Computer Services, Stout Tele-production Center, and Media Technology Department. A few of the many accomplishments of Barnard during his career at Stout include: helped to obtain a new library building and championed the application of up-to-date technology to improve services; developed and implemented the university's graduate program in media technology; helped to establish the Tele-production Center; and was instrumental in organizing the Academic Computer Center. Dr. Barnard retired in 1987.en_US
