Thesis
Description
In Racine, Wisconsin, a highly industrialized city of about 100,000, located between Milwaukee and Kenosha in southeastern Wisconsin, educational issues have arisen over the past ten years resulting in public discussions and reactions. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the various issues and groups involved in public education in Racine, Wisconsin, in the period 1960-1969. It is hoped that this thesis will illustrate the types of issues in which the public became involved. It is also hoped that research will uncover the involvement of nationally organized pressure groups like the John Birch Society that have become involved in educational issues in Unified School District No. 1.
