    Abstract
International students coming to the United States from China to attend high school had difficulties adjusting to the host culture. Among many factors that could be hindering their cross-cultural experience it was thought that mobile phone use for personal reasons were distracting them from learning about the new culture. The research attempted to investigate the impact of mobile phone use on comprehending the orientation material. The results indicated that mobile phone use during orientation was not a significant factor. Future research should focus on other factors that could be negatively impacting students' adjustment to the host culture. Factors could include extent of mobile phone use outside of the orientation and school day.
