The purpose of this study was to examine career related outcomes of the Ozaukee Youth Apprenticeship program for students that have completed the program in a manufacturing field between 2012 and 2017. In addition, the study utilized both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to review percentages and numbers regarding career and/or schooling choice after the program, as well as student perceptions of the program and how it helped determine their path after completion in the program. Through an online survey and phone interviews with Ozaukee Youth Apprenticeship completers, it was found that a majority of students continued with their original plans after program completion towards a path related to their youth apprenticeship, and attributed positive career path experiences to their youth apprenticeship as well. In reviewing this research, conclusions of the program were drawn regarding the messaging of the program, skills and education obtained during the program, and how the program credential was utilized to pursue higher-level career and/or training. This information will help provide insight into areas of strength and weakness to all parties involved. This includes but is not limited to: employers, program coordinators, teachers, and school administration.
