Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC)
The Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) is a research center situated within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. SSEC develops and utilizes satellite-, aircraft- and ground-based instrumentation to collect and analyze observations of the Earth’s atmosphere, oceans, land surface, and other planetary atmospheres to improve our understanding of weather, climate, and atmospheric processes. Housed within SSEC is the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS), a world-renowned satellite meteorology research center.
