    Abstract
    In this interview with Scott Seyforth, John Quinlan discusses his experiences growing up gay with his family and his elementary, middle, and high school experiences. John talks about the Rainbow Coalition with Jesse Jackson and his further political involvement in LGBTQ+ rights at UW-Madison. John also discusses the HIV/AIDS crisis and what it was like in Madison. John discusses his work with the City of Madison and how he continues to fight for systemic change for supporting LGBTQ+ people. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Archives LGBTQ+ Project of the Oral History Program.
