Due to drastic changes in education legislation over the years, many public schools in the
United States are forced to cater their lessons to standardized testing. The administration
and staff at North Woods International Elementary School have developed a curriculum where students stay on par with others in their district on national tests, but also receive a concentrated education in global competence. In a globalized world, this emphasis on global competence has the promise of giving students an early advantage in their educational careers.
