    Abstract
The goal of this study was to develop a working prototype for a children's literature genre the researchers are calling reader-animated storybooks. An animated story is meant to be read as well as watched. Text appears on the screen, the mobile device waits for the reader to speak it, and then the scene visually unfolds.
