dc.descriptionIn his 2010 interviews with Troy Reeves, James “Jim” Steakley detailed his life through his interest in German and LGBT History and his life as a gay man. Steakley furnished his memories of his life from the mid-1950s to the late 2000s (with some comments on current (2010) events) and touched on the following topics: Germany, German history, Gay activism, UW—Madison German Department history & politics, and LGBT History—on campus and in Germany. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the Madison LGBT Community, 1960s-Present project within the UW-Madison Oral History Program’s general collection.en
