    Abstract
The problem of developing interest in participating in organized activities and events among college students is a serious one on many campuses. There appear to be many reasons why students participate or fail to participate in such events. The purpose of this study was to explore the backgrounds, experience and attitudes of a sample of students at Wisconsin State University ? La Crosse to determine the kind of environment which tended to encourage them to participate in extra-curricular activities.
