    Abstract
In Wisconsin, curriculum developers indicate local history should be included in the social studies; however, review of literature has indicated teachers do not have time to develop activities incorporating local history. Leading authorities in social studies education feel the study of local history by students helps develop a sense of personal heritage, an interest in history and an awareness of community citizenship.
