dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of the art of Vocational Evaluation. This study will examine the types of assessment tools/instruments being used by vocational evaluators, the client populations being served by vocational evaluations, and the types of vocational evaluations being conducted. In addition, it will also examine the impact the 1998 Rehabilitation Act Amendments have had on vocational evaluation. Client empowerment, informed choice, community based assessments, trial work experiences, serving people with the most severe disabilities, and the use of real work in vocational evaluations are all part of the goals in the vocational rehabilitation process and have been mandated by the Vocational Rehabilitation Act Amendments. The importance of this study is to determine what types of vocational evaluations are being conducted, the impact the 1998 Rehabilitation Act Amendments have had on vocational evaluation, and client populations being served by vocational evaluations. This study will play a role in assessing the current state of the art of vocational evaluation related to mandated community-based assessments and the use of real work in vocational evaluations. Results of this study will assist in identifying if the Rehabilitation Act Amendments have impacted the types of vocational evaluations being conducted in the 21st Century. | |
