    Abstract
One of the most important social issues facing the United States is how to provide individuals with a solid foundation as they grow up. Professional from around the country have been searching for a solution to ensure that individuals have the resources that they need growing up. The Search Institute has developed a framework of developmental assets that are predictors of positive growth in individuals. This literature review explained the history of the Search Institute, explained in detail the 40 developmental assets, and explored the research regarding the 20 external assets. The literature review also presented the assumptions and limitations of the review and concluded with remarks about recommendations for future research.
